As Sessley Building Services looks to the future, many exciting developments are in place that will lead to future growth and continue our mission of diversity, equity and inclusion. One of the most noteworthy is our MBE state certification. We have also applied for MBE certification from the City of Columbus and SBE designation from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).
“We are incredibly excited about receiving the state MBE certification, and we are making sure to carefully evaluate the certifications we want next,” says Robert Sessley Jr. “We don’t need to get them all at once. It’s best to first analyze what’s going on in the market and what certifications provide the most meaningful opportunities for us in the future.”
Looking for the most impactful opportunities and building connections has always been an important component of the Sessley Building Services story. From Intel, biotech and pharmaceutical companies in Columbus, to big names including Google and Facebook, building relationships has been key to the company’s success. Robert Jr. is especially proud that Sessley Building Services has been able to bid and negotiate recent projects, including those with the Economic and Community Development Institute (ECDI) and Messer Construction, both based out of Columbus, Ohio.
According to Robert Jr., “Being able to now work with ECDI means a lot, because they were intrinsic to our growth starting out. While we didn’t have all of the resources to work with them early on, finally being able to bid, and win the project, is great.”
As for their collaboration with Messer Construction on a large federal project downtown, patience and making connections were the name of the game.
“We were chasing a relationship with Messer Construction for around a year, trying to figure out exactly where we could fit with them,” says Robert Jr.
Robert Jr. foresees negotiating Sessley Building Services into significant projects, as the catalyst to a bright, successful future.
